How do you clean a ceramic hair straightener?

My straightener is a ceramic CHI straightener, and it smells horrible when I straighten my hair.

I think it’s because of all the hairspray/hair styling wax I use.

So how can I clean a flat iron without ruining/damaging it?

    Wipe it off with a slightly damp cloth.

    Clean it with a cloth and alcohol.
