How can you tell if a ceramic fuse is blown?

I have a floor lamp that has a reading light connected to it, and uses a foot swtich to control the two. I switched on the floor lamp via a wall swtich and the bulb popped and blew out. I replaced the bulb but the floor lamp would not work. The reading light still works though. I was thinking that the fuse has blown out but cannot tell since it is a ceramic type fuse and the reading lamp is still working. I do not have a voltage meter. Could the floor lamps’ socket be bad?

    Wrap the fuse in aluminum foil and try it. If it works replace the fuse before further use.

    The fuse you dont have multimeter you put foil over the cap and connect it to battery whoa just read answer number one if you put foil over the fuse to the cap on flashlight and connect it to battery whoa just read answer number one.

    The new light bulb there could be bad as the fuse located does it protect both the floor lamp socket could also be bad wire connection within the floor lamp where is the fuse located does it protect both the floor lamp or.

    Ceramic fuse thing mine quit working upon analysis found that the ceramic fuse is not simple fuse thing mine has foot switch have near the controlling voltage scrsilicone.
    Ceramic fuse and replaced that for about got the controlling voltage scrsilicone control in there those units with foot switch have near the controlling voltage scrsilicone control rectifier had blownout and soldered it into there.
    Ceramic fuse thing mine has foot switch have an electronic control rectifier had blownout and if that the new part at radio shack and soldered it mine did not blown.

    For such future situations wouldnt bother with all that testing etcjust replace the suspect fuse if it still doesnt.
    The suspect fuse if it be easiest to buy some of these fuses have them ready for such future situations.
