If I were to put 12″ ceramic tile around my tub walls, is there a special kind of morter used, so it doesn’t fall when tile is set in place??? Help??

InNeedOfAdvice asked:

We just moved into a new home and I picked out ceramic tile that I thought had a more natural feel than glaze for the bathrooms. After actually walking on the floor, the tile felt a bit rough and dusty but now it doesn’t (the floor may have actually been dusty or I might just have gotten used to it). I think that i might have picked out porous tile because when the floor gets a little wet, the tile seems to absorb the water. Is this damaging to the tile or floor beneath it or will the water eventually dry out?The saleswoman never informed me that this tile was special in any way. Thanks!

It’s just me asked:

I have a ceramic pottery pot that was hand made. It has a tube that comes up in the middle of the pot (similar to an angel food cake pan) and also a lid. Is this for steaming vegetables in the oven? Or does anyone know what this pot is utilized for?

BellaCapricorn81 asked:

I have purchased a ceramic teapot and have found that it leaks about 1cm above the base. It appears the base and then the rest of the teapot were joined however approx. half a side is not sealed properly? It seaps a very small amount of liquid. It looks almost like a crack but I can see the join all the way around. Is there a way to re-glaze or anything I can do to patch it up? The outside is a matte paint/glaze and the inside is a high gloss glaze. Sorry, I have no idea about ceramics so not sure what, if anything can be done?

whatup asked:

The house we want to buy is older they put cermaic tiles over vinyl flooring pre 70s which could mean the floor has aspestes , well we dont have the money or time to tear all this out. Is there a way to cover up ceramic tiles? (its ugly, chipping, old, scratched, just eww) i heard you could put sheets of plywood all over the kitchen on top of ceramic tile, how would do do that? we want to end up w/ linolium we have picked out. or could we just go over the entire kitchen w/ that floor filler to make everything even and then lay linolium on top of that? the kitchen where the guy built the add on is about .5 inches lower than rest of kitchen and its at a tilt, so we need to lay that stuff anyways

mommyme asked:

My family room is a long room that is 350 square feet. I want to use 12X12 ceramic tile. Should we install the tile at a diagonal or on the square. The room is long enough - I think when you install it on the diagonal it makes the room look bigger. Any suggestions or help??

TwilightZN asked:

My family has been to several places to “do your own pottery/ ceramics” and they fire them for you. (In much larger cities) Our size is maybe 12,000 pop. My goal is to open something similar to this yet allow different classes to be taught also. Ex: painting, scrapbooking, batiking, sewing, sculpture, stainglass…any mediums people (children and teenagers also) would be intrested in. A place for all ages (allow kids to have b-day parties!) Also giving teens a place to hang & show their talents. Of course the art mind has no sense of the business mind. I clearly need advice on how this could be started and where to look for financing . It would be a great opportunity for this small town in TX w/nada. Allowing families and kids to do something unique. I have many ideas and themes found by talking to others. I feel that placing some of the profits with local and international charities would be a good way to give back. (Hab 4 Hum, YoungLife, Compassion I.) Just need a place to start.

Can you put ceramic tile over the commercial grade hard plastic vinyl tile? It would be really hard to break up off the floor. It is stuck on there really good.
