swampwalker asked: I am looking to have ceramic tile professionally installed in my back patio. The patio is 900 square feet and enclosed. I have screens instead of windows. I live in South Louisiana where freezing isn’t much of an issue but high humidity and temperature is a constant in the summer months. I also have three cats that live in the patio. One of them has a bladder control issue that’s a problem and I also have a 7 year old son who rides bikes, big wheels, etc at high speed. As far as traffic goes it’s not really a high use area. I mainly use it for family get togethers for the holidays and for my wife and I to smoke outdoors. I plan to use 16 by 16 inch tiles. My question is should I choose the Impervious type tile due to my cats issues with it’s bladder and the PEI Class. I’ve done a lot of reading on the net about this but am somewhat confused as to all of it. With a higher PEI value does the porosity value also improve? Also any grout sealing ideas for pet accidents would be appreciated.
As of right now the patio is just a regular concrete floor that’s painted if this helps any.
