Please do not tell me to throw it out and buy a new one at Walmart!!! This is a very expensive hand made teapot that I wanted to keep for many years. I just found a chip on the lid. I think my cat jumped on the counter and chipped it. He looks guilty. The little piece that came off is probably not going to be found. Is there something I can fill in the gap with to disguise it?
A marker would not disguise it. It’s a missing sliver that goes right through the edge of the lid.

Agape Man asked:

I have about 15 sf of ceramic tile around and in front of my fireplace. I want to replace this with black granite tile. Is it feasible for me to take a shortcut by not removing the ceramic tiles….and possibly just roughing them up…and using multi-purpose thinset to adhere the granite tiles? I want to avoid the work of chiseling the ceramic tiles if at all possible. The person at Home Depot said that I could just use Liquid Nails and that would do the job as well. Not sure about that suggestion. Thanks

Cramer A asked:

About to lay new ceramic tile. Pulled up the old vinyl and much to my surprise the subfloor is 1 inch solid plywood! So I’m good there. The vinyl left behind a coat of the old glue, that ain’t going anywhere. Is it okay to lay right over this as long as it is pasted well to the floor, or do I have to try and somehow scape up all that old glue? The glue is flat and smooth, not lumpy, although still a bit tacky in spots.

I did ceramic in my basement last month and pulled up the old vinyl there. I used chemicals to remove the old vinyl glue and it was a REAL BTCCCCH to get up. So if this is an unnecessary step, then I would sure like to avoid this.

thanks

SE asked:

In a few months, I’ll be moving out of my apartment and into my fiance’s house. As successful 30-something professionals, we have everything we need, and between the two of us, we actually have a lot of duplicate items.
We’re in the process of going through our things to decide which items to keep and which items we want to sell or donate, and I have just relized how much STUFF I have! I didn’t even know I had some of these things!! I have so many items I don’t use - such as ceramics, a set of very large hand-painted vases, flower-shaped salad plates, sunflower teapot, etc - and I’m just not sure what to do with them. Most of these are items I would have *never* bought, and that I don’t use. The problem is that most of them were reasonably expensive gifts from dear family and friends. Do I offer pieces back to the person(s) who gave them? Do I try to sell them? If so, how in the world do I figure out what they’re worth?
Help?! Suggestions, please?!

Thanks :-)

Matt16 asked:

Can I apply ceramic tile to my bedroom that is on the 2nd floor?

My parents are saying I can’t because “the tile will weigh the floor down over time”

Is there any danger in putting tile on a 2nd floor?

piggypie1333 asked:

Who has ceramic tile in their house? Now I don’t just mean the bathrooms and kitchen? But I mean in the living room and all? Why do you have this? I see the appeal for having hardwood floors, but tile? Whats the purpose? You have to sweep or vacuum the whole floor every day and then you have to mop it, and lets not forget the grout in between the tile. You spend more time cleaning the floors than anything else and they are not very nice for tired aching feet. And if you have tile, do you have kids? Aren’t you afraid that they will get hurt if they fall? My two year old fell out from between our sectional and got a really good goose egg on her head. We have a rug in front of the couch but not behind. It seems like if you are going to spend alot of money on area rugs b/c you have tile don’t you think it would cost them same to have carpet and have them cleaned quarterly?? Thanks for taking time to answer.

Is it better to use ceramic or vynil tile in the bathrooms and why?
(example: how it feels on your feet if you live in a state where it gets really cold in the winter, how easy are they to clean, etc.)
